I just tried to pick up a quarter and half dollar. They both rose to my hand. But, it seems that when I try to lift something heavier than say a silk (which is apparently what it was created for) the thread tends to bind up and get tangled. The Hummingbird Reel works better with items that will catch the wind and seem to float or fly.
