Vintage Multi Channel / 4 Track Open Reel Tape Recorders:

This is a 1974 vintage open reel tape recorder model TC-645, it has "Symphase which allows accurate reproduction of Quadraphonic sound" - not bad for 1974.

I've had it for years. It still works ok, playing, is my Father's original Quadraphonic Dark Side Of The Moon tape which also plays nicely.

The camcorder is shite and doesn't do the sound justice. Hehehehe, I noticed a paramedic going past in the background.

Oh, I have three of these machines, another boxed "mint" one with cover and service manual and another that was bought off eBay for 99p, supposedly totally dead, there was no fuse in the plug !?! That works fine too.

Table shows BIAS recommended setting refferedto Studer rec and play heads. It has to be used as guide onlynotas absolute reference for all the open reel recorders.

For perspective, we added reel to reel pages in radio catalogs from the late '30's to the early '80's and included open reel tape recorder ads as well. We hope you enjoy our online information. Take a look at our "Phantom Time Line" page also. You'll see some of the audio and video units that were interesting benchmarks of production development. It continues to evolve as we have time. Enjoy!
